GoSurf! .. with the GoSurf Alert

Designed and developed a new and expanded site for the new Surfrider chapter:

And - I'm co-chairing the "Education" committee, also helping out a bit with events and with fund-raising, ....

And, yeah - trying to take care of two small work projects and a pile of personal junk that needs getting done.

I really DO want to get the GoSurf service "live" .. the alert message itself is actually working - has been for several months - I just keep letting other things move 'in front' of getting the sign-up stuff finished ... soon, soon...

The "GoSurf Alert" -- a data-rich text message sent to your cell phone -- is still in development...

» sign-up forms still need to be completed and tested (eg. sign up for the first time, renew, cancel)
» more "error-checking" for bogus buoy data (something new and unexpected keeps popping-up occasionally...) needs to be added in to the program code that generates the alerts

Thanks to all who have expressed interest so far!

Suffered major damage to the right leg (and no - no "good story" to tell!). Have dropped ALL current work in order to get a ton of things done around the house, see doctors, make phone calls, and - make preparations for being on crutches for awhile!

So NO surf for Mr. GoSurf...
(oh well .. stuff happens..)

Hope to pick it up again real soon.

Other consulting projects (gotta take priority) have pushed back the hoped-for release date .. looking to about +1 more month from now...

The surf alert program  is up-and-running ... first version is "reading" data from Buoy 44025 == "Western" Long Island.

Gonna let it run for awhile to get a feel for how "timely" the data updates .. 2 beta users (different phones, different cell carriers).
